  • Since the trial of Lord Monson in 1660, the Lordship of Reigate was held by James II. When James II was overthrown and exiled in 1697, the Lordship of the Manor was granted to the Somers family.

In 1806, the Manor was bequeathed to John Cocks, Baron Somers, who purchased Reigate Priory in the following year.

The last member of the Somers family to inhabit Reigate Priory was Lady Isabel Somers Cocks. Lady Isabel was born in 1851 and married Lord Henry Somerset in 1872 from which time she was known as Lady Henry Somerset.

Lady Henry Somerset died in 1921 and family interests in Reigate were sold. This site includes details of those properties in Nutley Lane that were included in the sale.

The Lordship of the Manor, Park and Old Town Hall were presented to Reigate Borough Council.
