    Rabbit Hutch Row

    The houses on the East side of Nutley Lane, leading up to the railway bridge were (and maybe still are) known as Rabbit Hutch Row.

    Man dies near gasworks

    A report in the Surrey Mirror dated August 25th, 1883:

    "A labouring man named Bernard Beale, died suddenly on Wednesday. He was working in a field opposite the Reigate Gas Works, when he was observed to fall, and expired almost immediately. Deceased was about 50 years of age, and an inquest will be held on the body by Mr. Percy Morrison, coroner, to-day (Saturday."
